Teenager Emily Renda says she was excited to receive her turtle necklace at her high school prom in February, but when she got home she discovered the necklace was missing.
“I thought it was going to be my last year of prom, so I was like, ‘I don’t know what to do,'” Renda told ABC News.
“My sister had said that we should go to the prom with her and we did.
I was a little bit worried about it, but I had no idea it would be my favorite prom ever.”
After searching the internet for a long time, Renda was finally able to track down a store in Ohio to pick up the necklace, which was a “sad moment” for her because it was the last necklace she wore to prom.
“She was very, very happy,” Renda said.
“It’s not like we are going to get a new necklace every year,” Ronde said.
I’m just very, really proud of it,” Rondy added.”
I think that this necklace really touched the hearts of everyone in the prom.”
“I’m just very, really proud of it,” Rondy added.
The turtle necklace was designed by Renda’s friend, Tiffany DeJesus, and is made from sterling silver and gold.
Renda and her friends said they plan to keep the necklace until they are 50, to commemorate their prom and to remind them that they will never forget it.
“For me, it’s so much fun to wear this necklace every time I wear it,” said Renda, who wore the necklace at the prom.
“You know it’s going to go with you, and it’ll stay in your head forever.”
